Ergo was established in 1985 under the name Glitnir, and we have consistently worked to meet the needs of our customers through professional advice and excellent service.
Ergo is a division within Íslandsbanki, backed by the bank’s strong foundation and included in its financial reporting.
Our story
1985
Glitnir was founded and was originally based at Ármúli 7 in Reykjavík.
2011
Íslandsbanki’s financing services become Ergo, which relocates its operations to Suðurlandsbraut 14 in Reykjavík.
2017
Ergo relocates to Norðurturn in Kópavogur.
Ergo – “Therefore”
- In 2011, we rebranded, and the name Ergo was chosen.
- Ergo means “therefore” and reflects the driving force behind our operations. The arrow in our logo represents forward movement, while the colours create warmth and atmosphere.
- Ergo is a member of IFLA (International Finance and Leasing Association), a global organisation for finance and leasing companies.
- The IFLA serves as a platform for sharing information on developments and innovations in the financing industry.

We are located on the 7th floor in Norðurturn, Hagasmára 3 in Kópavogur, and are open from 10:00 to16:00 on weekdays. Telephone and email services are available from 09:00 to 16:00.
