The Electric Vehicle Car is available to both individuals and businesses, and is paid directly to the registered owner of the car.

You can apply on Island.is
- Grants are currently ISK 500,000 for new passenger cars and ISK 250,000 for commercial vehicles.

The grant applies to fully electric cars and hydrogen-powered cars with fuel cells.

Kilometre Charge
Owners of electric vehicles, hydrogen-powered vehicles, and plug-in hybrids are required to pay a kilometre charge. This applies to vehicles that run on both electricity and petrol or diesel, and can be charged via a plug-in connection. It does not apply to standard hybrid vehicles that cannot be plugged in.
