When is a credit check required?
The first step is always to apply for a loan through your car dealership or vehicle seller.
A credit check is carried out for every loan application.
Under consumer credit legislation, a full credit check is required if an individual applies for a loan, including all cost, of ISK 3.170.520 or more and if a couple or cohabiting applicants apply for a loan of ISK 6.341.040 or more.
To complete a payment assessment, you must have valid electronic ID. If you don‘t have one, you can apply at your nearest Íslandsbanki branch. Once your ID is in place, the assessment process is quick and fully digital – from start to finish.
